Born in a New York City taxi cab (partly visible in artwork), Marsha "Pay No Mind" Johnson never had it easy. She fought for her very first breaths between lightning strikes during a summer storm after her mother gave birth in a parking lot. 

Later in life, Marsha had to fight for the simple right to be herself. She was born Michael Johnson but identified as female and legally changed her name at age 18. 

The fractal image in the artwork is formed using variables from Marsha's birthdate (August 24, 1945) and the Stonewall Uprising (July 28, 1969), combined with the image of a taxi cab.
